Title:
FREQUENCY CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1984/003008
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An apparatus for converting frequency which is used as a converter which, for example, converts a microwave signal received from a satellite broadcast into a signal of a lower frequency, comprises a circular waveguide (12) into which a signal is supplied, a rectangular waveguide (14) which is provided at its final end with a rectangular waveguide-to-microstrip line converter (15), and a circular-to-rectangular waveguide converter (13) connecting between the circular waveguide (12) and the rectangular waveguide (14). The diameter of the circular waveguide (12) is set so that the cut-off frequency of the circular waveguide (12) is lower than the frequency of the received signal and higher than a local oscillation frequency, so that the circular waveguide (12) can act as a high-pass filter, to satisfy noise factor characteristics and increase the image-noise ratio, as well as reduce leakage of the local oscillation signal.
