Abstract:
The invention relates to means for rotation transmitting means. The inventive friction ball device for transmitting rotation between shafts (1 and 2) having the crossed axes (I and II) comprises a guiding element (3) embodied in the form of a part of a sphere which is rotatable around the axis (I) in the direction indicated by an arrow. Said device also comprises a guided element (4) embodied in the form of a part of a sphere and arranged in such a way that it is rotatable about the axis (II). Annular grooves (5 and 6), respectively are embodied on the surfaces of said elements oriented to each other in such a way that the spherical surfaces provided with said grooves encompass each other. The annular grooves (5 and 6) cross each other in two points where balls (7 and 8) interacting with the grooves are arranged. The intersection of the grooves forms an angle $g(a) between the tangents to the surfaces thereof which contact with a ball, said angle being equal or less than the ball blocking angle between the surfaces of the grooves. The intersection of the grooves forms an area bounded on all sides by the walls and bases thereof, whereby said ball is always kept dispensing with additional elements like a separator in said area. In addition, said arrangement of the grooves makes it possible of transmitting rotation with the aid of the ball in any direction of rotation of the guiding element.
