Abstract:
Provided is a friction stir welding method for an electromagnetic steel strip, which is able to suppress the occurrence of fracturing of a coil joint in a manufacturing line due to a deterioration in the mechanical characteristics or a deterioration in the shape of a coil joint, while maintaining high construction efficiency, and is advantageous in terms of durability of a rotary tool. In this invention, preheating-type dual-surface friction stir welding is carried out, the relationship in expression (7) is satisfied with regard to the diameter D (mm) of a shoulder part of a rotary tool, and the relationship in expression (8) is satisfied with regard to RS×D3/JS, which is represented by the rotation speed RS (rotations/minute) of the rotary tool, the diameter D (mm) of the shoulder part of the rotary tool, and the welding speed JS (mm/minute). Expression (7): 4×TJ ≤ D ≤ 10×TJ
