Abstract:
Provided is an FRP-made drive shaft wherein the joint strength between an FRP cylinder and metal joints at the ends thereof can be increased and wherein high transmission torque can be obtained. The aforementioned FRP-made drive shaft is configured by joining metal end joints to both ends of the FRP cylinder. In the FRP-made drive shaft, the aforementioned end joints are each composed of a press-fitted joint comprising a serrated section which is press-fitted into the FRP cylinder and of a cylindrical outer collar which is fixed to the outer circumference of the FRP cylinder. In the press-fitted joint and the cylindrical outer collar, there are formed noncircular engagement sections which engage each other, thereby transmitting rotation.
