Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a fuel cell separator material having pure titanium or a titanium alloy as a base material, wherein the method for manufacturing a fuel cell separator material includes: a coating step (S2) for causing carbon black to be coated on a surface of the base material, which has a carbon concentration of 10% (atoms) or less at a location 10 nm below the outermost surface; and a heat treatment step (S3) for causing the base material that has been subjected to the coating step (S2) to be heat-treated at an oxygen partial pressure of 25 Pa or less. In addition, prior to the coating step (S2), it is preferable to include a carbon-concentration-reducing step (S1) for processing the surface of the base material and causing the carbon concentration at a location 10 nm below the outermost surface to be brought to 10% (atoms) or less.
