Abstract:
There are provided a fuel cell system and operation method thereof capable of appropriately executing a special stop accompanying a substitution failure by a raw material gas in a fuel cell system. If stop of the fuel cell system (100) causes failure of substitution operation by the raw material gas, a control device (11) of the fuel cell system (100) sets the open/close state of fuel open/close means (26, 23, 24) for opening/closing an entrance of a fuel electrode (13a), oxidant open/close means (25, 28, 20, 27) for opening/closing an entrance of the oxidant electrode (13c), and hydrogen open/close means (21, 23, 22) for opening/closing an entrance of a hydrogen generation device (12) to a state different from the open/close state by the raw material gas in accordance with the content of the failure.
