Abstract:
In the present invention, a fuel injection valve (20) comprises: control chambers (36, 46) to which a high-pressure fuel from a pressure-accumulating pipe (11) is supplied; a needle valve (31) that opens/closes an injection hole (34) according to the fuel pressure inside the control chambers; a fuel discharge passage (58) that discharges fuel from within the control chamber to the outside; and a pressure adjustment valve (52) that is capable of adjusting the fuel pressure inside the control chambers without moving the needle valve by establishing and cutting off communication between the control chambers and the fuel discharge passage. A fuel injection system is provided with return pipes (65, 65a) that connect the fuel discharge passage with a low-pressure fuel passage which is on the downstream side of a fuel tank and on the upstream side of a fuel filter. The fuel injection system comprises a supply control unit that supplies fuel from within the control chambers to the fuel filter through the return pipes without moving the needle valve from a closed-valve position by establishing communication between the control chambers and the fuel discharge passage by means of the pressure adjustment valve when the needle valve is in the closed-valve position.
