A fuel injection valve has a poppet valve body (240), a coil spring (250), and a nozzle member (210). The poppet valve body (240) has a substantially circular conical sealing surface (244a) that faces the upstream side and also an end surface (244b) facing the downstream side, and the poppet valve body (240) reciprocates in a fuel path (210b) in an opening/closing manner. The coil spring (250) urges the poppet valve body (240) in a valve closing direction. The nozzle member (210) receives the poppet valve body (240), defines fuel paths (210a, 210b) and an injection opening (210d), and is provided with an orifice member (260) for closing the injection opening (210d) and defining an orifice (261) that has a smaller diameter than the injection opening (210d). Self-exciting vibration of the poppet valve body (240) caused by a variation in the pressure of fuel applies pulsation to the fuel having been led to a downstream side space (211) between the end surface (244b) and the orifice member (260), and this further breaks up fuel sprayed.
