Abstract:

A fuel tank having increased mounting rigidity, higher vibration frequency than an unsprung portion, and increased durability. In a fuel tank (1), a flange (3b, 30b) on the outer periphery of a separator (3, 30) is welded to the inner surface of a tubular section (2) with a substantially square lateral cross-section, a fuel tank body (10) that is constructed by fixing end plates to both end sections of the tubular section (2) is mounted on a substantially L-shaped bracket (6) attached to a side frame (5), and a belt member (8) is wound on the fuel tank body (10) to fix it to the bracket (6). The separator (3, 30) of the fuel tank body (10) is placed directly under the belt member (8), and a main bead (3e, 30e) as the frame of the separator is attached to the separator (3, 30), where the main bead (3e, 30e) lies in a diagonal line from an upper corner (3c, 30c) of the separator, which upper corner is a section to which tensile force of the belt member (8) is inputted, to a lower corner (3d, 30d), at a corner (6a) of the bracket, of the separator. Further, both side edges of both ends of the main bead are connected by a curved surface (3f, 30f) having a predetermined radius.
