Abstract:
Provided are a novel compound having a fulvalene backbone that can be used suitably as a material for an n-type organic semiconductor, organic EL element, or the like, and a production method that makes it possible to synthesize compounds of various structures having a fulvalene backbone. Provided is a polymer having a fulvalene backbone that can be used suitably as a material for an n-type organic semiconductor, organic EL element, or the like. A fulvalene compound configured to have a fulvalene-derived backbone, to have four specific ring structures formed together with part of the backbone moiety of the five-membered ring that forms the fulvalene backbone, and to have a specific monovalent substituent that serves as a substituent of the respective hydrogen atoms or ring structures in these four ring structures; a method for producing the compound; and a fulvalene polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer component containing this fulvalene compound.
