Abstract:
A method for preparing functional particles which comprises irradiating at least one type of hollow particles (14), porous particles (24) and solid particles (34) having pores (18), (28) and (38), respectively, with a plasma under a reduced pressure, under conditions wherein the strength of plasma irradiation and/or the degree of vacuum take different values depending on the size of interstice between particles, and then contacting the surface of particles irradiated with the plasma with at least one monomer, to effect a graft polymerization, thereby substantially filling pores (18), (28) and (38) of the particles with a graft polymer (12) from the at least one monomer; and functional particles prepared by the method.
