Abstract:
Provided is a furniture device that limits the movements of a user in a real space as much as possible while making it possible to give the user the sensation of moving in a virtual space. This furniture device on which a user can sit includes (a) a leg sensor that is arranged on a surface near the legs of the user and converts measured values relating to displacement of each of the left and right legs of the user into the virtual movement amount of the user in a virtual space and (b) a back sensor that is arranged in a part near the back of the user and recognizes forward movement or rearward movement of the user in the virtual space on the basis of displacement of the back of the user. The virtual movement amount and the recognition result of forward movement or rearward movement are output as a forward virtual movement amount or a rearward virtual movement amount. The furniture device also preferably outputs a speed for the virtual movement amount which is the speed of the displacement and/or an acceleration for the virtual movement amount which is the acceleration of the displacement.
