Abstract:
[Problem] To provide furniture that can be both reduced in weight and increased in strength while having a simple configuration, and a method for producing the furniture. [Solution] The present invention has: a top plate part 2; four leg parts 3 formed in pairs, the leg parts 3 being provided at mutually opposed positions on the reverse surface of the top plate part 2 and being formed from an elastic material; pulling means 4 provided to the inner sides of the leg parts 3 at substantially central positions in the height direction of the leg parts 3, the pulling means 4 imparting, to the leg parts 3, pulling force in a direction oriented inward toward the center; bracing means 5 provided to the inner sides of the leg parts 3 at substantially lower-end positions in the height direction of the leg parts 3, the bracing means 5 imparting, to the leg parts 3, bracing force in a direction oriented outward from the center; and repulsion means 6 for generating repulsion force in the outward direction such that the leg parts 3 are pushed apart from the center at substantially upper-end positions in the height direction of the leg parts 3. The leg parts 3 that form a given pair are kept in equilibrium in an elastically deformed state due to the pulling force, the bracing force, and the repulsion force.
