Title:
GAP BONDING GLASS FOR MAGNETIC HEADS AND MAGNETIC HEAD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/037736
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
There has been a problem with a PbO low-melting glass that it is inferior in water resistance and in reliability of bonding strength between gap materials when forming a magnetic gap of a magnetic head. A gap bonding low-melting glass for magnetic heads of the invention has a composition containing, in oxide terms, 5-14 weight% of SiO2, 3-15 weight% of B2O3, 4-22 weight% of ZnO, 55-90 weight% of Bi2O3, 0-4 weight% of Al2O3, 0-5 weight% of at least one kind selected from Li2O, Na2O, and K2O, and 0-12 weight% of at least one kind selected from MgO, CaO, SrO, and BaO. The gap bonding low-melting glass contains no PbO. By using this glass, the opposing faces of magnetic core halves are bonded, with a nonmagnetic gap material interposed therebetween. As a result, a magnetic head with no degradation of the magnetic characteristics due to high temperatures and with an excellent water resistance is produced.
