Abstract:
A Breast feeding garment is disclosed. The garment is comprised of a main body of fabric B, with a see through fabric section/insert C, located above the chest region. The invention is placed over the head by way of the aperture A, and is fastened by the use of a standard means, ribbon at D. There is an optional pocket E, located on the inside of the front panel B for the placement of a bib if required. There shall also be optional arm slits F, so that the user can place their arms outside of the garment without having to lift the bottom hem. The users upper body shall then be shielded from view allowing nursing mothers to breastfeed their suckling infants without baring their naked breasts.

Claims:
s cláims defining the invention are as follows :
1. A breast feeding garment shall cover the entire breast region of the female form and a suckling infant.
2. The breast feeding garment shall provide privacy, keeping the users modesty intact from the gaze of the public when an infant requires breast feeding.
3. The breast feeding garment of claim 1 shall be comprised, in the upper chest sectionabove the breasts of an abstract type of fabric to allow the user to observe a suckling infant while still maintaining privacy.
4. The breast feeding garment of claim 1 shall be comprised, in the main body of the inventionthat is all bar the upper chest region, of a non see through fabric.
5. The breast feeding garment of claim 1 shall allow the user free arm movement underneath the garment in complete privacy so that the user can partially undress before placing the suckling infant into a breastfeeding position as in claim 3.
6. The breast feeding garment of claim 1 shall be of durable fabric.
7. The breast feeding garment of any one of claims 1 through to 6 shall include a means of fastening the neck opening thus ensuring the garment does not slip down making the users breast region visible.
Description:
GARMENT PROVIDING PRIVACY FOR BREASTFEEDING MUMS This invention relates to the privacy required by mothers while breastfeeding their babies either in public places or whilst in private homes in the company of other persons.

For many women the thought of baring their breasts in front of other people is abominable and so they choose to bottle feed so that they do not have to endure this humiliating experience.

The problem has been that there has not been anything that is quick and easy to use which is durable and pleasing on the eye, whilst allowing the mother to blend in with the public. The majority of mothers do not want people staring at them because the baby needs to be fed and they have to bare their breast in a public place.

Other patents have tried to provide some type of garment but they have been found to be unsuitable and not quick and easy to use.

This garment is not of a bulky nature and can be quite easily carried in the nursing mothers handbag if necessary.

This invention has been kept reasonably simple but still allows mothers to keep their modesty intact. The nature of the design comprising the use of two different types of fabrics, 100 % cotton with a lace or super fine poplin insert, allows the mother to ensure that all is well with the suckling infant while still The garment is not of a throw away nature. It is made to be of a very washable and durable nature, so that even mothers who choose to breastfeed for a period longer than six months can be assured the garment will-last the distance The garment shall be manufactured in three sizes, small, medium and large so that it will provide adequate coverage for the majority of the female population.

IN THE DRAWINGS: Figure 1 illustrates that the invention shall have an opening referred to as A, which allows the user to place the breastfeeding garment over their head, thus covering the upper body, specifically the chest region.

Figure 1 the invention shall consist of a main body section, referred to as B, this section shall be of a lightweight material but not see through. (ie: 100% cotton).

Figure 2, The see through section/insert-referred to as C, shall be joined to the main body section B at F, thus allowing the mother to observe the infant whilst still maintaining modesty.

Figure 3 illustrates that the see through section/insert panel C shall be joined to the main body section B, at the neck, shoulders and above the chest region.

Figure 1-Back View, the invention shall be fastened at the head and neck opening, referred to as A, by way of a simple standard fastening device, referred to as D. (ie: ribbon) Figure 1-Front View, the invention shall provide an option of a pocket situated on the front inside panel, below the chest region as shown at E.

Figure 4 the invention shall have armhole slits, as shown at F, so that the user can place their arm/arms outside the garment at any time.

It will be realised that the breast feeding garment according to this invention is not restricted to the fabrics documented, but may use any other suitable fabrics which does not alter the purpose for which this garment style was invented.

It will be realised that the breast feeding garment according to this invention is not restricted to the use of ribbon as the neck fastening device, referred to as D, any other suitable product may be substituted. It will be realised that the armhole slits, shown as F-Figure 4, are not an integral part of this invention and may or may not form part of this garment at any time.

It will be realised that the pocket located on the inside front panel, shown as E-Figure 1, is not an integral part of this invention and may or may not form part of this garment at any tune.
