Title:
GAS DISCHARGE TUBE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/049073
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A gas discharge tube comprises a glass bulb, two pairs of lead wires (3, 5) sealed at both ends of the glass bulb, and indirectly heated electrodes (11) attached to the ends of the lead wires (3, 5). In the gas discharge tube, a discharge space (S) is defined between the indirectly heated electrodes (11). Each of the indirectly heated electrodes (11) has a heater (13) one end (13a) of which is electrically connected to the lead wire (3), and an electron emitting portion (17) (a coiled-coil (18) and a metal oxide (19)) electrically connected to the other end (13b) of the heater (13) and the lead wire (5) and capable emitting electrons when heated by the heater (13). Each indirectly heated electrode (11) is attached to the ends of the pair of the lead wires (3, 5) in such a way that the portion (connecting pin (21)) at which the heater (13) is electrically connected to the electron emitting portion (17) is made to face the discharge space (S).
