Abstract:
A gas generator composition for an air bag, which has low toxicity, is less dangerous and easy to handle, provides excellent combustion efficiency and gas evolution efficiency, is reduced in the amount of residues of combustion, can be prepared safely, exhibits high strengths under molding conditions, and can be used as a passive restraint for automobiles. More specifically, a gas generator composition comprising (a) a fuel comprising at least one polymer compound selected from among polyacrylic polymer compounds, polyacetals, urea resins, melamine resins, ketone resins, and cellulosic polymer compounds; (b) an oxidizing agent selected from ammonium nitrate and phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate; and (c) at least one combustion accelerator selected from among metal nitrates, metal nitrites, and salts of oxyacids, such as salts of perchloric acid and salts of chloric acid; a molding thereof; and an inflator for an air bag made by using the same.
