Abstract:
This gas generator (1A) is provided with: a housing; a partition member (70A) that divides the space inside the housing into a combustion chamber (S1) in which a gas generating agent (60) is contained and a filter chamber (S2) in which a filter (80) is contained; and an airtight container (50) which hermetically seals the gas generating agent (60) from the outside. The filter (80) has a hollow part (81) that reaches an end face in the axial direction, said end face being positioned on the combustion chamber (S1) side. The airtight container (50) is configured of a member that has a relatively low mechanical strength so that the container (50) bursts or melts by means of the burning of the gas generating agent (60). Meanwhile, the partition member (70A) is configured of a member that has a relatively high mechanical strength so that only a portion facing the hollow part (81) bursts by means of the burning of the gas generating agent (60), thereby forming a communicating hole through which the combustion chamber (S1) and the filter chamber (S2) are in communication with each other.
