The present invention provides a gas generator that has a housing comprising a top plate, a bottom plate axially opposed to the top plate, and a peripheral wall portion which is located between the top plate and the bottom plate and in which a gas discharge port is formed. The inside of the housing is divided, by a partition wall partitioning the inside of the housing in the axial direction and radial direction, into a first combustion chamber on the top plate side in which a first gas generating agent is accommodated and a second combustion chamber on the bottom plate side in which a second gas generating agent is accommodated. A first igniter for burning the first gas generating agent and a second igniter for burning the second gas generating agent are disposed on the bottom plate. The partition wall has a cylindrical portion surrounding the first igniter and having a communicating hole for communicating the first combustion chamber with the second combustion chamber, and an annular portion extending radially outward from a second opening on the top plate side of the cylindrical portion. A first opening portion on the side opposite to the second opening portion of the cylindrical portion in the axial direction is in contact with the first igniter, and the outer peripheral edge portion of the annular portion is in contact with the peripheral wall portion of the housing, thereby separating the first combustion chamber and the second combustion chamber.
