The present invention is a gas generator comprising a gas generating agent and an igniter accommodated within a housing, said housing having gas outlets, wherein: the housing has a circular planar shape, and comprises a top panel, a bottom panel opposing the top panel in the axial direction, and a peripheral wall between the top panel and the bottom panel, and the ratio of the length L in the axial direction and the outer diameter D is L/D≤1.1; the gas outlets are blocked by blocking members, and are a combination of a plurality of first openings, in which the rupture pressure (P1) of the blocking members is low, and a plurality of second openings, in which the rupture pressure (P2) is higher than the rupture pressure (P1); the plurality of first openings and the plurality of second openings are formed at intervals on the circumference of the same circle, in at least one of the peripheral wall and the top panel; and adjacent first openings and second openings in the circumferential direction are arranged such that an angle (θ1) formed by a first center line, which passes through the center of the same circle and the center of the first opening, and a second center line, which passes through the center of the same circle and the center of the second opening, is 15° to 65°.
