Abstract:
To provide a gear pump or motor capable of effectively ensuring mechanical efficiency and durability even in the case where materials having different slidabilities are used for each side of gears, the present invention provides a gear pump or motor comprising a pair of gears engaged with each other, a housing structure having therein a gear housing chamber that houses this pair of gears, and one side plate that is housed in the gear housing chamber, in which inside the gear housing chamber, one side surface of the pair of gears is in slidable contact with the housing structure, and the other side surface of the pair of gears is in slidable contact with the side plate, wherein an action area of a fluid pressure that acts on the side surface of the gears with lower slidability is set to be larger than an action area of a fluid pressure that acts on the side surface of the gears with higher slidability, when the slidability between the pair of gears and the housing structure and the slidability between the pair of gears and the side plate are compared with each other.
