Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a gel-forming fire extinguishing agent having improved fire extinguishing performance, particularly a gel-forming fire extinguishing agent suitable for ground fire extinguishing, in which it is possible to prevent liquefaction and furthermore solidification of the agent prior to use and make the characteristics of the fire extinguishing effects uniform. [Solution] A granular gel-forming fire extinguishing agent which is obtained by granulating a gelling agent by adding a binder, and with which fire is extinguished by spraying a gelled fire extinguishing agent obtained by hydrating the gel-forming fire extinguishing agent. In the fire extinguishing agent, the gelling agent is a thickening polysaccharide, preferably an edible thickening polysaccharide.
