[0084] Further embodiments of the invention are directed to a method of manufacturing a xanthan gum, LBG, gellan gum gel comprising:

mixing xanthan gum, LBG, gellan gum and apple sugar syrup by agitating constantly;

adding water while continuing the agitation;

gradually heating to a temperature of between about 60-95°C;

adding at least one plant extract and/or at least one nutritional supplement;

heating to less than about 120°C; cooling to less than 80°C to obtain a xanthan gum, LBG, gellan gum gel. According to some embodiments, the xanthan gum, LBG, gellan gum gel is placed in a package.

[0085] Further embodiments of the invention are directed to a method of manufacturing a gel comprising xanthan gum, LBG and/or gellan gum comprising the steps of:

mixing one or more of xanthan gum, LBG, and/or gellan gum together with apple sugar syrup by agitating constantly;

adding water while continuing the agitation;

gradually heating to a temperature of between about 60-95°C;

adding at least one plant extract and/or at least one nutritional supplement;

heating to less than about 120°C;

cooling to less than 80°C to obtain a gel comprising one or more of xanthan gum, LBG and/or gellan gum. According to some embodiments, the gel is placed in a package.

[0086] In some embodiments, the mixing of the xanthan gum, LBG and gellan gum together with and apple sugar syrup may be between about one minute to one hour. In some embodiments the mixing of the one or more of xanthan gum, LBG and/or gellan gum and apple sugar syrup may be between about 10 minutes to twenty minutes. The xanthan gum, LBG and gellan gum and apple sugar syrup may be mixed until a homogenous mixture is reached. Water may be added to the mixture and the mixture may be agitated and heated to about 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 or 95°C until a homogenous solution is reached again. Plant extracts may then added together with the nutritional supplements and the composition may be heated to about 85. 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115 or 120°C and agitated until homogenously is achieved. The composition may then allowed to be cooled to about 80, 75, 70, 65°C or less by, for example, exposing the pot in which the composition is formed to cold water. The mixture, i.e., the xanthan gum, LBG, and gellan gum gel of the invention, may then divided into packages and the packages may then sealed.

EXAMPLES

[0087] A Pharmacokinetic Crossover Comparison Study of Absorption Characteristics of two Multivitamin mineral Formulations (gel vs. tablet/capsule)

[0088] Study Design:

14 patients were recruited to the study.

The study included two stages: 1. Capsule administration - 14 healthy volunteers were recruited to the study. The capsule was administered as a single dose after 12 hours of fasting. The participants were monitored during 6 hours for the level of minerals and Multivitamin minerals in the blood, adverse events and vital signs.

2. Gel administration - the gel was administrated to the same group of patients in the single dose after 12 hours of fasting. The participants were monitored during 6 hours for the level of minerals and Multivitamin minerals in the blood, adverse events and vital signs.

[0089] Blood tests for vitamins A, E, C, folic acid and minerals calcium and magnesium were performed at various time points between 15-36 minutes.

[0090] Safety monitoring was performed for 6 hours and included - vital signs and adverse events monitoring.

Study objectives:

Primary Objective

A comparison of mean fractional absorption of the two Multivitamin mineral formulations (gel vs. tablet/capsule).

Secondary Objective

A comparison of absorption rate across the two Multivitamin mineral formulations (gel vs. tablet/capsule).

[0091] Results are presented as mean ng/mL (plasma) vs. time.

[0092] The capsule/tablet formula included the following ingredients:

Experimental Results

Water soluble vitamins:

Folic Acid

[0094] Figure 1 presents the absorption of folic acid in the blood at different time points. The Average absorption of the folic acid from the gel was 58% i.e. 16% more than the average absorption of the folic acid from the tablets which was 42%.

Vitamin B12

[0095] Figure 2 presents the absorption of B12 in the blood at different time points. Average absorption of the vitamin B from the gel was 51% i.e. 2% more than the average absorption of the vitamin B from the tablets which was 49%.

Fat soluble vitamins

Vitamin E

[0096] Figure 3 presents the absorption of vitamin E in the blood at different time points. Average absorption of the vitamin E from the gel was 53% i.e. 6% more than the average absorption of the vitamin E from the tablets which was 47%.
