The purpose of the present invention is to provide: glass for chemical strengthening for obtaining a chemically strengthened glass which exhibits excellent strengthening properties and characteristics which are suitable for cover glass; and glass. Glass for chemical strengthening, said glass comprising, when displayed as a mol% based on oxide content, SiO2 in the amount of 50-65%, Al2O3 in the amount of 15-23%, B2O3 in the amount of 2-10%, P2O5 in the amount of 0-15%, ZnO in the amount of 0-15%, MgO in the amount of 0-10%, CaO in the amount of 0-15%, Li2O in the amount of 3-15%, Na2O in the amount of 2.5-15%, K2O in the amount of 0-5%, ZrO2 in the amount of 0-5%, Y2O3 in the amount of 0-5%, and TiO 2 in the amount of 0-5%, wherein [Li2O]/([Na2O]+[K2O]) is 0.5-3.5, and [Al2O3]+[Li2O] is 27-35%. The [ ] in the formulae represent the content of each component denoted inside the brackets when displayed as a mol% based on oxide content thereof.
