Abstract:
The present invention relates to a glucose-responsive artificial muscle and, specifically, to: a glucose-responsive artificial muscle based on a carbon nanotube and a hydrogel causing a reversible change in volume according to a change in glucose concentration; a manufacturing method therefor; a rotary artificial muscle using the same; and a method for detecting glucose. According to the present invention, the glucose-responsive artificial muscle provides reversible twisting by using the expansion and contraction, of a hydrogel, occurring because of a change in the charge of inner anions, since boronic acid introduced in the hydrogel is bonded with glucose, and thus a change in glucose concentration can be detected with high sensitivity within a short time. Therefore, the present invention can be usefully applied to: various medical instruments including a drug delivery system, BioMems, bio-nano- and micro-machine, a smart scaffold for tissue engineering, a drug injection channel opening/closing device and a drug injection concentration control device, which are to be regulated according to blood sugar, a neurosimulator and the like; and nanomedicines, the drug delivery field, the rehabilitation medicine field and the bioengineering field.
