Abstract:
In the present invention, a video display system including an optical system performs gradation conversion to achieve an appropriate display. A visual luminance generating unit (410) generates a visual luminance on the basis of a maximum luminance (401) of a display panel and a transmittance (402) of the optical system when a video displayed from the display panel is viewed. A system gamma generating unit (420) generates a system gamma on the basis of the visual luminance. A gradation luminance generating unit (430) generates a gradation luminance on the basis of a video signal. A system gamma superimposing unit (440) generates a multiplication factor by superimposing the system gamma onto the gradation luminance. A signal multiplying unit (450) outputs a display video signal by multiplying the video signal by the multiplication factor.
