Abstract:
A source image is automatically cropped by generating crop candidates from the source image and selecting a cropped image from the crop candidates. The crop candidates are generated by gridding the source image to form an image grid having grid units each having a grid anchor, selecting two corner regions in the image grid, and creating an individual crop candidate having two corner points respectively selected from two pluralities of grid anchors in the two corner regions. It shrinks the number of crop candidates generated while reducing a likelihood of obtaining similar crop candidates. A suitability score of using the individual crop candidate as the cropped image is determined by utilizing feature information in both region of interest (RoI) and region of discard (RoD). The RoI is a region of feature map containing feature information of the individual crop candidate and the RoD is the remaining region without the RoI.
