Abstract:
Provided are a gripping determination system and a gripping determination method whereby it is possible to detect whether a driver is gripping a steering device or not with higher accuracy. A gripping determination system (1) that is provided with electrodes on a part of a steering device (2) of a vehicle and determines whether or not the steering device (2) is gripped, comprises: a capacitance detection unit (50) that detects the capacitance at the electrodes; a steering torque sensor (40) that detects the steering torque of a steering wheel axle (200); and a determination unit (60) that determines whether or not the steering device (2) has been gripped on the basis of the detection results of the capacitance detection unit (50) and the steering torque sensor (40).
