Abstract:

Claims:
Claims
1. A guard rail comprising at least one elongated guard means (3) fixed into position to poles or uprights (2) anchored into the ground, characterized in that said guard means (3) consists of an elongated sheet panel (4) having bendings in its opposite, elongated free end edges in order to increase the form stability of the sheet panel.
2. A guard rail according to claim 1, characterized in said elongated sheet panel (4) comprises at least one bulge formation (5) formed in the same and in the longi tudinal direction of the same.
3. A guard rail according to claim 2, characterized in that the bulge formation has the form of a Vformed extension (6), which is centrally orientated along the width of the sheet panel (4).
4. A guard rail according to claim 1, characterized in that sheet panel (4) has the form of a strip of steel or stainless material having a predetermined width.
5. A guard rail according to claim 1, characterized in that the sheet panel (4) is enclosed in rubber, which has been vulcanised on both sides.

A guard rail according to claim 1, characterized in that the sheet panel (4) is fixed into position in the uprights (2) by aid of legs (9), which are insertable into above each other located grooves (7) in the uprights, said legs (9) are extending from a Uformed fastening element (8) enclosing said sheet panel (4), said fastening element is locked in said grooves (7) by aid of anchoring means (9').
7. A guard rail according to claim 6, characterized in that the anchoring means (9') consist of a locking pin (14), which is insertable into openings (12,13) in the free end portions (10,11) of the legs (9).

A guard rail according to claim 1, characterized in that the sheet panel (4) comprises a joint (17) in the region of its longitudinal directions (15, 16), said joint consists of a Uformed threaded clamp (18), around the web (19) of which one end (20) of the sheet panel (4) is fixed at the same time as the other end (21) of the sheet panel (4) is fixed to an opening provided pin (22), which is adjustably operable with the free, threaded legs (25, 26) of the clamp (18) by aid of nuts (27,28).
9. A guard rail according to claim 8, characterized in that each sheet panels (4) are bent 180° around the clamp (18) and pin (22), respectively, and said bending by aid of a fittings (25') is fixed into position by aid of a sawteeth formed nip (26') provided in the fittings (25').
Description:
Guard rail The present invention refers to an improvement in or relating to a guard rail intended to be placed in con- nection with or in the middle part of a road to prevent collision between vehicles or that they run off the road.

Today there are different types of guard rails, of which those which in later time usually is mounted serve as guard rails having steel wires, which are fixed in position on uprights above each other in a number of three or four parts. However, this type of guard rails has a lot of drawbacks for certain vehicles and especially motor- bikes.

The object of the present invention is to solve these problems stated above and provide a guard rail of the type mentioned, which comprises at least one elongated guard means, which is fixed in position to uprights anchored into the ground. The characterizing features according to the invention are stated in the following claims.

Thanks to the invention a guard rail has now been provided which in an excellent way fulfils its purposes at the same time as it is cheap and easy to manufacture and that it is also easy to mount. The guard rail according to the invention comprises guard means fixed in position on tools or uprights anchored into the ground, said guard means is in the form of at least one elongated sheet panel, which has in its opposite free end portions a bending for enhancing of the form stability of the sheet panels. In a special embodiment the sheet panel also can be provided with a centrally located, elongated bulge formation in a form of a V-formed extension. In another embodiment of the

invention the sheet panel can be provided with or covered in rubber, which has been vulcanised on both sides. In this way an enough function protection is further created in the case that the guard rail is manufactured by a sheet material which can corrodate. In certain embodiments stainless sheet material is used. Compared with the steel wires, which are used today for this type of guard rail, one has expenses for the same in the case steel sheets are used together with vulcanisation, which is much cheaper than the steel wire. This must also be taken in conside- ration in the light of that only two elongated guard means in the form of sheet panels are required in order to nor- mally replace three parts of above each other located steel wires.

The invention is described in more detail below by aid of some preferred embodiment examples with reference to the drawings enclosed, in which Fig. 1 illustrates a schematically perspective view of a guard rail according to the invention, which is attachable on uprights from the ground by aid of a fixing means formed according to the present invention, Fig. 2 illustrates a first embodiment example of sheet panel according to the invention, which can be manufactured by stainless steel or steel sheet, Fig. 3 illustrates an alternative embodiment example or the sheet panel, which has been vulcanised and provided with a layer of rubber,

Fig. 4 further illustrates an alternative embodiment example of the sheet panel, which has been vulcanised with rubber where one of its surfaces has been provided with elongataed, small exten- sions, Fig. 5 illustrates a side view of a jointing means for connecting of sheet panels and said jointing means can be adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the sheet panels, and Fig. 6 illustrates the joint according to Fig. 5 in a view from above.

As can be seen from Fig. 1 it is here illustrated an improvement in or relating to a guard rail 1 according to the invention comprising an elongated guard means 3 fixed to a pole or uprights 2, anchored into the ground. The guard means 3 consists of an elongated sheet panel 14, which has at least one bulge formation 5 formed in the same and in the longitudinal direction in the form of a V- formed extension. In this figures is also illustrated how the sheet panel 4 can be fixed to the uprights 2 by aid of an anchoring means 9', which co-operates with a fastening element 8 enclosing the sheet panel 4, the legs 9 of which are insertable in above each other located grooves 7 in the upright 2. The legs 9 are provided with openings 12,13 in their free end portions 10 and 11 for co-operation with the anchoring means 9'in the case the same is formed as a locking pin 14.

In Figs. 2-4 different embodiment examples are illustrated of a guard means 3 in the form of an elongated sheet panel according to the invention. In Fig. 2 is closer illu-

strated a sheet panel 4, which has bendings in its opposite, elongated free end edges and said sheet panel 4 furthermore is provided with a centrally located V-formed extension 6. In fig. 3 a sheet panel 4 is illustrated which is enclosed in rubber which has been vulcanised on its both sides and in Fig. 4 a sheet panel 4 is illu- strated, which has been provided with rubber, which on one side has a surface in the form of a lot of parallel to each other extending, small extensions.

In Figs. 5 and 6 is closer illustrated how a sheet panel 4 is connected to a neighbouring sheet panel and here the connected panel 4 illustrates a joint 17 in its longitu- dinal connections 15,16, said joint 17 consists of a U- formed threaded clamp 18, around the web 19 of which one end 20 of the sheet profile 4 is fixed at the same time as the other end 21 of the sheet profile 4 is fixed to a pin 22 with openings, which is adjustable in relation to the free, threaded legs 25,26 of the clamp 18 by aid of nuts 27,28.

The respective free end of the sheet profiles, which are intended to be connected, is bent over 180° around the clamp 18 and the pin 22, respectively. The bending is fixed into position by aid of a fittings 25', which comprises a saw-teeth formed nip 26'located in the same.

The fitting 25'forming the nip 26 consists of two portions and said portions can be pressed together by aid of screw means 27.
