Abstract:
A plasma CVD process using an auxiliary electrode and a dummy member is used to form a hard carbon film (15) on an inner peripheral surface (11b) of a guide bush (11) in sliding contact with an article (51) being processed and a portion (11h�1?) of an opening end surface (11h) near the inner peripheral surface directly or through an intermediate layer providing an increased adhesion or on a surface of a hard member provided on the surfaces directly or through an intermediate layer providing an increased adhesion, the guide bush (11) being mounted to an automatic lathe to support the article (51) near a cutting tool slidably in a rotating direction or in an axial direction. Accordingly, the guide bush (11) is exceedingly increased in durability, and incapability of cutting due to seizure is prevented even in long term use and heavy cutting in an automatic lathe. Further, scar is prevented from being generated on an inner peripheral surface of the guide bush (11) by burring of the article (51) being processed.
