Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to determine the path of a blood vessel by a guide wire itself while reliably determining the position of the distal end of the guide wire. The guide wire is provided with: a shaft body having a specific portion containing an X-ray opaque material; and a distal helical body that contains an X-ray opaque material, is formed in a helical shape, and is at least partially positioned distal to the shaft body. The guide wire has a first X-ray opaque portion which is a portion of the guide wire in the longitudinal direction of the guide wire and includes at least a portion of the distal helical body. The guide wire further comprises a second X-ray opaque portion which is another portion of the guide wire in the longitudinal direction of the guide wire, is positioned proximal to the first X-ray opaque portion, includes at least a part of the specific portion of the shaft body, and has different x-ray opacity from the x-ray opacity of the first X-ray opaque portion.
