Provided is a hair dryer that dries hairs, etc., using infrared rays and that enables a reduction in airflow resistance while suppressing a reduction in reflection efficiency. The hair dryer comprises a dry air passage 5 that is provided with a blower fan 9, a motor 10, a heat source 11, and a reflector 12. The reflector 12 is provided with a reflection part 20 that is provided so as to enclose the periphery of the heat source 11 and that reflects infrared rays, emitted from the heat source 11, toward the side where a blow-out port 4 is present. The reflection part 20 is provided with at least one ventilation slit 22 through which dry air is able to pass from the upstream side of the dry air passage 5 to the downstream side thereof. Accordingly, even when the reflector 12 is increased in size for the purpose of improvement in the reflection efficiency, dry air can pass through the ventilation slit 22 to the downstream side of the reflector 12, thereby enabling a reduction in airflow resistance while suppressing a reduction in reflection efficiency.
