A hand sanitiser monitor (1) in combination with a hand sanitiser dispenser (3), the monitor (1) having a first sensor (10) giving a visual, aural or other output on detection of a person. The monitor (1) can sense dispensing of sanitiser and provides an alert when the need to replenish or replace the sanitiser is identified.
