A handheld camera stabilizer and a holding mechanism thereof, relating to the technical field of cameras. The holding mechanism of the handheld camera stabilizer comprises: a main body (11); clamping jaws (12), movably provided in pairs on the main body (11), wherein each clamping jaw (12) is reciprocally movable in a holding direction thereof with respect to the main body (11); a holding width maintaining mechanism, provided on the main body (11) and used for adapting a holding width of each pair of clamping jaws (12) to a camera device (3) to be held; and an adjustment mechanism, provided on the main body (11) and used for adjusting the distance in the holding direction and between one clamping jaw of each pair of clamping jaws (12) and the main body (11), so as to adjust the position of a holding center of each pair of clamping jaws (12) relative to the center of the main body (11) with the holding width of each pair of clamping jaws (12) remaining unchanged. The handheld camera stabilizer and the holding mechanism thereof adjust the center of gravity of a held camera device during use, such that the center of gravity of the camera device is more closely matched with the preset center of gravity area of the camera stabilizer, thereby reducing load on a motor, facilitating use, and improving the user experience.
