Abstract:
A health bike is provided, which can have a built-in exercise prescription system of an intelligence type for enabling automatical measurement of physical strength and health information, and for enabling exercise prescription properly for a user's state after synthetically analyzing it in a single apparatus during exercise, which can have a built-in exercise treatment system for improving a user's physical strength using bio-feedback, which can be constructed in one compact body. The health bike comprises a kiosk-type front stand(30), in which an LCD (1) is installed so as to be able to look at a screen while a user is exercising with seating himself in the seat(13a), and at an interior lower side of which a computer(31) is installed by means of a rear cover(17), whereby physical strength and health information can be measured while the user is exercising in a single apparatus with seeing various screens.

Claims
1. A health bike, in which a user takes exercise by rotating a pedal (8) with seating a seat (13a) supported by a central frame (20) and taking hold of a handle (12), said bike comprising: a kiosktype front stand (30) which is fastened to a frame (20), in which an LCD (1) is installed so as to be able to look at a screen while a user is exercising with seating himself in the seat (13a), and at an interior lower side of which a computer (31) is installed by means of a rear cover (17), a conversion of a screen of said LCD (1) being performed by pressing a button or, if it is a touch screen, a touch panel; a measurement device interface section (15) for connecting physical strength and health information measurement devices to various control modules to be installed in the frame (20), said devices comprising an electrocardiograph, a pliability measurement means, a blood pressure measurement means, an oxygen intake measurement means, etc. , for measuring physical strength and health information ; and, a computer interface section (16) which comprises a power source input section (A), a ground connection section (B), a printer connection section (C), a serial communication section (D), a LAN connection section (E), a USB connection section (F), etc., to be connected to the computer (31) and which is installed in a rear of the kiosktype front stand (30) ; whereby physical strength and health information can be measured while the user is exercising in a single apparatus with seeing various screens.

The health bike according to claim 1, said bike further comprising at least one of: buttons (2) for performing functions such as screen conversion, a selection from a manu, etc. ; a speaker (3) for transmitting voice information to assist measurement of physical strength and health information; an image camera (4) for obtaining and inputting the user's exercise appearance for enabling image communication on the Web ; a CDROM (5) for inputting, storing and outputting various data, programs, etc. , by means of a compact disc ; a smart card reader/writer (6) for inputting, storing, and outputting various information by means of the user's smart card ; and, a wireless keyboard/mouse receiver means (7) for inputting from a keyboard and/or a mouse by wireless.

The health bike according to claim 1 or 2, said bike further comprising: a floor plate (21) which is installed fixedly to a lower surface of the frame (20), said floor plate (21) having an intermediate support member (10) on the lower middle portion of the frame (20) for stably locating the frame (20) and wheels (9) for enabling movement; and, a scale (lla) which is installed by means of a scale supporter (24) at a scale installation portion (23) formed on the lower surface of the floor plate (21) with a stepping plate (11) of the scale (lla) being disclosed through a scale stepping aperture (22) so that the user's feet can be placed on the scale (lla) through the scale stepping aperture (22) for measurement of weight.

The health bike according to claim 1 or 2, said bike further comprising an article storage means (13) which is installed on the rear surface of the back of the seat (13a), said article storage means (13) being able to be opened and closed so as to contain physical strength and health information measurement devices such as an electrocardiograph, a pliability measurement means, a blood pressure measurement means, an oxygen intake measurement means, etc. , to be connected to measurement device interface section (15) for measuring physical strength and health information.

The health bike according to claim 1 or 2, said bike further comprising a seat slider (14) which is installed so as to enable movement of the seat (13a) to a position properly for the user's leg length by using the user's own weight and feet after pulling a slider position adjustment lever upward with the user taking the seat (13a).
6. The health bike according to claim 1 or 2, said bike further comprising a brake of an eddy current type or a generator type as a load adjustment apparatus for controlling a load against rotation of the pedal (8).
Description:
Title of Invention HEALTH BIKE Technical Field The present invention relates generally to a health bike, and more particularly to a health bike, which can have a built-in exercise prescription system of an intelligence type for enabling automatical measurement of physical strength and health information with personal basic physical strength and exercise capability and for enabling exercise prescription properly for a user's state after synthetically analyzing it in a single apparatus while the user is exercising in said single apparatus without feeling boredom, which can have a built-in exercise treatment system for improving a user's physical strength using bio-feedback, which can be constructed in one compact body, thereby being able to be inexpensive and to be used even in a narrow space, and which can be changed properly for users of various physical constitutions.

Background Art Generally, the present exercise ability measurement and exercise prescription are carried out on the basis of basic

inquiries based on questionaires, cardiac and pulmonary endurance power, agility, momentary power, muscular endurance power, evaluation of physical strength by evaluation of muscular power, heart rate by an electrocardiogram and its change, analysis of body fat, blood pressure, evaluation of physical strength by maximum oxygen intake (V02max), etc. , performed by each individual measurement apparatus. Therefore, it has disadvantages that the measurement apparatus are expensive and take up much space, systematic exercise administration cannot be performed and those processes are boresome. Also, the complexity of the measurement apparatus and the exercise prescription necessitate exercise prescription specialists.

In order to solve the above problems, it is necessary to develop speacial apparatus for exercise ability measurement and exercise prescription which are properly for the domestic situation. People's physical strength and export to advanced nations can be promoted by the development of the compact and special apparatus which can measure various physiology variables necessary to evaluation of physical strength synthetically at the same time and can automatically prescribe for exercise properly for a personal characteristic.

Disclosure of Invention Accordingly, the present, invention is made in order to solve the above problems, and one object of the present invention 5 is to provide a health bike, which can have a built-in exercise prescription system of an intelligence type for enabling automatical measurement of physical strength and health information with personal basic physical strength and exercise capability and for enabling exercise prescription properly for a 10 user's state after synthetically analyzing it in a single apparatus while the user is exercising in said single apparatus without feeling boredom, which can have a built-in exercise treatment system for improving a user's physical strength using bio-feedback, which can be constructed in one compact body, 15 thereby being able to be inexpensive and to be used even in a narrow space, and which can be changed properly for users of various physical constitutions.

To accomplish the object of this invention, a health bike is provided in accordance with one embodiment of the present 20 invention, in which a user takes exercise by rotating a pedal with

seating a seat supported by a central frame and taking hold of a handle, said bike comprising: a kiosk-type front stand which is fastened to a frame, in which an LCD is installed so as to be able to watch a screen while a user is exercising with seating himself in the seat, and at an interior lower side of which a computer is installed by means of a rear cover, conversion of a screen in said LCD being performed by pressing a button or, if it is a touch screen, a touch panel ; a measurement device interface section for connecting physical strength and health information measurement devices to various control modules to be installed in the frame, said devices comprising an electrocardiograph, a pliability measurement means, a blood pressure measurement means, an oxygen intake measurement means, etc., for measuring physical strength and health information ; and, a computer interface section which comprises a power source input section, a ground connection section, a printer connection section, a serial communication section, a LAN connection section, a USB connection section, etc., to be connected to the computer and which is installed in a rear of the kiosk-type front stand ; whereby physical strength and health information can be measured while the user is exercising in the single apparatus with watching various screens.

In this case, it is preferred that said health bike further comprises at least one of: buttons for performing functions such as screen conversion, a selection from a manu, etc. ; a speaker for 5 transmitting voice information to assist measurement of physical strength and health information ; an image camera for obtaining and inputting a user's exercise appearance for enabling image communication on the Web ; a CD-ROM for inputting, storing and outputting various data, programs, etc. , by means of a compact 10 disc ; a smart card reader/writer for inputting, storing, and outputting various information by means of the user's smart card ; and, a wireless Keyboard/mouse receiver means for inputting from a keyboard and/or a mouse by wireless. Furthermore, a floor plate is preferably installed fixedly to a lower surface of the frame, said 15 floor plate having an intermediate support member on the lower middle portion of the frame for stably locating the frame and wheels for enabling movement.

Further, a scale may be installed by means of a scale supporter at a scale installation portion formed on the lower 20 surface of the floor plate with a stepping plate of the scale being disclosed through a scale stepping aperture so that the user's feet can be placed on the scale through the scale stepping aperture for measurement of weight. Preferably, an article storage means may be installed on the rear surface of the back of the 5 seat, said article storage means being able to be opened and closed so as to contain physical strength and health information measurement devices such as an electrocardiograph, a pliability measurement means, a blood pressure measurement means, an oxygen intake measurement means, etc., to be connected to measurement 10 device interface section for measuring physical strength and health information.

Still furthermore, it is preferred that a brake of an eddy current type or a generator type is employed as a load adjustment apparatus for controlling a load against rotation of the pedal.

Best Mode for Carrying out the Invention Now, a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

In Fig. 1, a perspective view of a health bike in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention is illustrated, and a rear elevation and a lower elevation of Fig. 1 are illustrated respectively in Figs. 2 and 3.

The health bike according to one embodiment of the present invention is configured so as to enable exercise by rotating a pedal (8) with seating a seat (13a) supported by a central frame (20) and taking hold of a handle (12), and comprises a kiosk-type front stand (30) having a computer (31) and an LCD (1), a computer interface section (16) and a measurement device interface section (15), said kiosk-type front stand (30) being installed so as to be able to look at a screen of the LCD (1) while a user is exercising with seating himself in the seat (13a).

The LCD (1), which is installed at the upper portion of the

kiosk-type front stand (30), can be configured so as to enable a conversion of a screen of said LCD (1) by pressing a button (2), which is described later, or, if it is a touch screen, a touch panel.

The computer interface section (16) is installed at an interior lower side of the kiosk-type front stand (30) by means of a rear cover (17) as shown in Fig. 2, and the computer interface section (16) can be installed in a rear of the kiosk-type front stand (30) as shown in Fig. 4.

The computer interface section (16) may comprise a power source input section (A), a ground connection section (B), a printer connection section (C), a serial communication section (D), a LAN connection section (E), a USB connection section (F), etc. , to be connected to the computer (31).

Further, one example of the measurement device interface section (15) provided in the health bike is shown in Fig. 5, which is installed at the rear of the frame (20) in Fig. 1. The measurement device interface section (15) to be installed as above is configured so as to connect physical strength and health information measurement devices to various control modules to be

installed in the frame (20). For example, said measurement devices comprise an electrocardiograph, a pliability measurement means, a blood pressure measurement means, an oxygen intake measurement means, etc. , for measuring physical strength and health information. That is, in Fig. 5, the measurement device interface section (15) comprises an electrocardiograph connection section (A), a pliability measurement means connection section (B), a blood pressure measurement means connection section (C), an oxygen intake measurement means connection section (D), etc.

Furthermore, although illustration is omitted, the measurement device interface section (15) may be connected so as to input information directly to, and to process the information in, the computer (31), or various separate measurement device control modules can be included at the same time with the computer (31) being configured as a main control section, according to construction of the measurement devices. In the later case, measured data are inputted by means of the measurement device interface section (15) and every control module from each measurement device according to execution of the predetermined program in the computer (30).

By virtue of the configuration of the health bike according to one embodiment of the present invention as described above, measurement and assessment of physical strength and health information and/or exercise prescription while the user is exercising through the pedal (8) can become realized by means of the computer (31), and the exercise can also be carried on competitively through networks or with watching various screens necessary therefor.

Preferably, the health bike according to one embodiment of the present invention, as shown in Fig. 1, comprises three buttons (2), a speaker (3), an image camera (4), a CD-ROM (5), a smart card reader/writer (6), a wireless keyboard/mouse receiver means (7), a microphone (not shown), etc.

The buttons (2) are configured so as to perform functions such as screen conversion, a selection from a manu, etc. , and the speaker (3) is configured so as to transmit voice information to assist measurement of physical strength and health information.

The image camera (4) is provided fot obtaining and inputting the user's exercise appearance for enabling image communication on the Web, and the CD-ROM (5) is provided for inputting, storing and outputting various data, programs, etc. , by means of a compact disc. Furtheremore, the smart card reader/writer (6) can be provided for inputting, storing, and outputting various information by means of the user's smart card. And, the wireless 5 keyboard/mouse receiver means (7) is preferably provided for inputting from a keyboard and/or a mouse by wireless.

In addition, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 as the health bike according to one embodiment of the present invention, a floor plate (21) is fixedly installed to the lower surface of the 10 frame (20), at which wheels (9) are preferably installed which can be movable and fixed. Further, an intermediate support member (10) is preferably installed on the lower middle portion of the frame (20) for stably locating the frame (20) and wheels (9) for enabling movement. Preferably, the intermediate support member (10) 15 is adjustable in height, for example, by thread-rotation.

Furthermore, it is preferred that a scale (lla) is provided, which can be installed on the floor plate (21) in the health bike according to one embodiment of the present invention. For example, a scale installation portion (23) is formed on the lower surface of 20 the floor plate (21) as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, at which the scale (lla) is installed and a scale supporter (24) is installed at the lower surface of the floor plate (21) for supporting the scale (lla). Additionally, a scale stepping aperture (22) is formed in the floor plate (21) so as for the user to step on a stepping 5 plate (ll) of the scale (lla) through a scale stepping aperture (22).

Although such construction is explained and illustrated as one exemple, the scale (lla) can be installed in various structures.

Furthermore, the health bike according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises an article storage means (13) which 10 is installed on the rear surface of the back of the seat (13a) so as to contain physical strength and health information measurement devices such as an electrocardiograph, a pliability measurement means, a blood pressure measurement means, an oxygen intake measurement means, etc. , to be connected to measurement device 15 interface section (15) for measuring physical strength and health information. The article storage means (13) can be configured so as to be able to be opened and closed by means of a rotation door or a sliding door.

Said bike further preferably comprises a seat slider (14) 20 which is installed so as to enable movement of the seat (13a) to a position properly for the user's leg length by using the user's own weight and feet after pulling a slider position adjustment lever upward with the user taking the seat (13a), similarly to a position adjustment device of a vehicle.

5 Also, the health bike according to one embodiment of the present invention further comprises a load adjustment apparatus (8a) for controlling a load against rotation of the pedal (8), which is preferably the prior art brake of an eddy current type or a generator type to be controllable easily in 10 electricity and is preferably controlled by means of a load control module and the computer (31) although it is not shown.

Furthermore, it is preferred that a handle (12) of the health bike according to one embodiment of the present invention enables measurement of physical health information about muscular power, 15 muscular endurance power, an electrocardiogram and body fat as in Korean Patent Application No. 2002-71082.

By virtue of the configuration and acting of the health bike in accordance with the embodiments of the present invention described above, 20 the health bike can be provided with a built-in exercise
