Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1995/006768
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A heat-bondable woven or knitted fabric which can be readily heat-bonded without the necessity for sewing and using any adhesive. The fabric is made from two polymers different from each other in melting point by at least 20 C, i.e., 50D-24F polyester yarns (m.p.: 250 C) as the warp (1) and 50D-24F/75D-24F polypropylene yarns (m.p.: 160 C) as the weft (2). When the bonding sites are pressed at a temperature of above 160 C but below 250 C, the polyester yarns remain intact, while the polypropylene yarns melt to serve as an adhesive.
