Provided is a heat exchanger for exchanging heat using a multiple tube, wherein heat can be efficiently exchanged. A heat exchanger (1) using a heat transfer tube (4) having outer tubes (42) and inner tubes (41) is configured so that both ends of each inner tube (41) are exposed from each outer tube (42), and header units (21) for circulating a first fluid from the outer peripheries of the exposed portions of the inner tubes (41) through gaps with the outer tubes (42), are provided. The header units (21) are vertically stacked so as to be spaced at predetermined intervals (W) by inserting interval forming members (8) or the like therebetween. Furthermore, the portions of each inner tube, which are exposed from each header unit (21), are covered externally from both sides by a header cover (3b) for circulating a second fluid, so that the second fluid is introduced to the inside of the header cover. Thus, the second fluid is introduced from the header cover (3b) to the inside of each inner tube (41), and is also introduced to the outer surface of each outer tube (42) in the axial direction via the intervals (W), so that heat is exchanged on the inner side and the outer side of each outer tube (42).
