Provided is a hermetic rotary compressor (100) with high output achieved while reliability is maintained. The hermetic rotary compressor (100) has, accommodated within a hermetic container (1), an electric motor (2) and a compression mechanism (3) which is located below the electric motor (2) and which is connected to the electric motor (2) by a crankshaft (4). The compression mechanism (3) comprises: the crankshaft (4) provided with a primary shaft (4a) which is affixed to the electric motor (2), a secondary shaft (4b), and an eccentric shaft (4c); a rolling piston (8) fitted to the eccentric shaft (4c); a cylinder (7) affixed within the hermetic container (1); a vane (13) for dividing a compression chamber (9) into a suction-side compression chamber (9a) and a discharge-side compression chamber (9b), the compression chamber (9) being formed by the inner surface of the cylinder (7) and by the outer periphery of the rolling piston (8); a primary bearing (5); and a secondary bearing (6). When the length of the secondary shaft (4b) is L and the length of the eccentric shaft (4c) is l, the ratio of l/L is 0.75 or less.
