Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide heterotrophic microalgae having a high content of γ-aminobutyric acid, and a method for increasing the content of γ-aminobutyric acid in the heterotrophic microalgae. The present invention provides heterotrophic microalgae in which the content of γ-aminobutyric acid is at least 100 mg per 100 g of a dry algal body. The present invention provides a food, a medicine, or a feed containing the heterotrophic microalgae. The present invention provides a method for increasing the content of γ-aminobutyric acid in heterotrophic microalgae, the method comprising a step for culturing the heterotrophic microalgae in a culture medium containing γ-aminobutyric acid.
