Abstract:
A high gloss ink−jet recording paper for photographic printing, characterized in that it has a single coating layer and the coating layer comprises a colloidal silica, a plastic pigment, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (poly−Dadmac). The coating layer is provided by a method comprising applying a cast coating liquid comprising the above components on a raw paper (1) with an air knife coater (2), supplying an acid solution with a dip coater (3) on a roll to thereby allow the cast coating liquid to gelate, and then press the gelled coating onto a heated cast drum (5) in a mirror−smooth state through a nip (6) between a press roll (4) and a cast drum (5), for drying and finishing. The ink−jet recording paper, which has only a single coating layer, exhibits a gloss comparable or superior to that of a conventional paper having two coating layers, and also has excellent ink−jet characteristics.
