Abstract:
The present application provides a high-nickel ternary positive electrode active material, comprising a Li1+a[NixCoyMnzMb]O2 core, a fast ion conductor LiαAlXSiYO4 in a first shell layer, an oxide of an element R in a second shell layer, and a transition layer LipRqOw formed between the first shell layer and the second shell layer. The high-nickel ternary positive electrode active material of the present application has a significantly reduced amount of surface impure lithium. Furthermore, the surface impure lithium is creatively transformed into an effective component in the fast ion conductor LiαAlXSiYO4 and the LipRqOw that accelerate the intercalation/extraction of lithium ions in the core material, and electrolyte decomposition and gas production caused by surface impure lithium are significantly improved, such that the high-nickel ternary lithium ion battery not only has high energy density but also has excellent cycle performance and safety performance.
