Abstract:
A high-precision, low false alarm rate detection apparatus, system, and method for rapid reaction to sudden kinetic impulses caused by abnormal motion of a power tool are described. The apparatus, system and method includes local measurement of sensing modalities with local real-time processing and advanced digital signal processing to measure the total kinematic motion of any power tool. Further, machine learning is used to provide a timely response to true kinetic impulses while rejecting characteristic vibration caused by normal usage. A reactive interlock can be engaged to inhibit uncharacteristic motion. Additionally, one or more electronic active or passive devices can be used in authenticating a user, define an operational profile for a user, and locking or unlocking a power tool.
