Abstract:
The invention concerns cylinders for storing and transporting compressed gases under pressure and in particular cylinders for storing oxygen under pressure. The high pressure cylinder comprises an outer heavy-duty cylindrical casing (1) of composite material, an inner hermetically sealed casing (4) of gas-tight plastic and a nozzle (5) with a metal flange (7). The said flange (7) is situated between the heavy-duty casing (1) and the inner hermetically sealed casing (4). The annular flange is provided on its inner surface with one or more annular grooves (8) which are trapezoidal in cross section, and with a rubber covering (9) on its outer and inner surfaces which fills the trapezoidal ring grooves. The cylinder can be used as a necessary part of the equipment used by mountain climbers, divers, pilots in high-altitude aircraft, rescue workers and fire fighters.
