Abstract:

Provided are a high purity sodium p-styrene sulfonate with excellent hue which is useful as a reactive emulsifier or dispersant for producing a polymer emulsion or a synthetic paste for ironing clothes and a sodium polystyrenesulfonate with excellent hue using the same, or a sodium p-styrene sulfonate in which fluidity is improved while maintaining excellent solubility. A β-bromoethyl benzene sulfonate aqueous solution and a sodium hydroxide aqueous solution are reacted under specific conditions and by controlling particle size, sodium p-styrene sulfonate particles in which the balance of fluidity and solubility is improved are obtained and due to reduction of impurities such as isomers a high purity sodium p-styrene sulfonate with excellent hue is further obtained.
