Abstract:
The present invention relates to a preparation method for nano montmorillonite for water-based paint, and belongs to the technical field of bentonite modification. The method comprises the following steps: 1) uniformly mixing a calcium-based bentonite mineral powder, a sodium modifier, and a dispersant, adding water, uniformly mixing the mixture, stacking the mixture for 72 h or more, and carrying out drying and crushing; 2) adding water, carrying out stirring and pulping, and centrifuging the pulp; 3) adjusting the pH value to 8-10, and carry out stirring for reaction; 4) adding a modifier, and carrying out stirring at a constant temperature of 20-70 °C; 5) adjusting the pH value to 7-9, and carrying out stirring at a constant temperature of 20-70 °C; and 6) carrying out drying. In the present invention, a stacking treatment process is adopted to carry out sodium modification on calcium-based bentonite, and a low-molecular-weight sodium polyacrylate is introduced in the modification process, thereby facilitating carrying out a subsequent pulping step while promoting sodium modification; the end face charge of a montmorillonite flake is controlled, thereby significantly improving the dispersion performance of montmorillonite; and a hydrophilic organic polymer chain segment is introduced, thereby greatly improving the thickening capability of the montmorillonite.
