Title:
HIGH-TENSION THYRISTOR CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1985/005233
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A high-tension thyristor converter which converts an alternating current supplied from ac buses (R), (S), (T) into a direct current via bridge-connected valves (U) to (Z), and which converts a direct current supplied from dc buses (P), (N) into an alternating current. In order to solve the problem associated with reducing the area of site in an ac/dc conversion station, valves (U) (V) (W) or (X) (Y) (Z) of three arms connected to the dc bus (P) or (N) of the same polarity among valves constituting the bridge, and arresters (LA1) (LA2) (LA3) or (LA4) (LA5) (LA6) connected in parallel with these valves are contained in a single hermetically sealed container (TA), in order to reduce the size of the converter as a whole so that it may be used in an ac/dc conversion station.
