Title:
HIGHLY REACTIVE BARIUM CARBONATE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2001049609
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a micronized barium carbonate, which is produced by adding an agent that impedes crystal growth, to a method for the production thereof, and to its use. Due to its extremely high reactivity, the produced micronized barium carbonate having a BET surface of at least 32 m<2>/g is suited, in particular, for producing capacitors, thermistors and other oxide ceramic electrical components, which contain calcium oxide, barium oxide or strontium oxide, as well as for producing high-temperature superconductors. Ammonium salts or alkylammonium salts of carboxylic acids, which comprise a total of 3 to 12 C atoms as well as at least two COOH groups or at least 2 OH groups, e.g. salts of maleic acid or of citric acid are used as the agent that impedes crystal growth.
