Description:
HINGE ARRANGEMENT FOR PLASTIC PROFILES

The invention relates to a hinge arrangement having at least one first hinge member pivotally connected to the at least one second hinge member, wherein the first hinge member includes a mounting bracket adjacent to a multi-chamber plastic frame profile and secured to an internal metal reinforcement profile embedded in the frame profile with at least two mounting screws oriented substantially towards the depth of the hinge, and the second hinge member includes a mounting bracket adjacent to a multi-chamber plastic sash profile in a inter-hinge space and attached to an internal metal reinforcement profile embedded in the sash profile by means of at least two mounting screws oriented substantially in the horizontal direction. of the Invention

Numerous hinge arrangements of this structure are known in the art. They are most often used for articulated mounting of door or window sashes. In particular, these systems are used for hinged mounting of internal or external door leaves, especially balcony or terrace doors.

Multi-chamber plastic profiles, in particular PVC profiles, are characterized by low stiffness and high thermal expansion. Therefore, in the construction of frames and sashes, they must be reinforced from the inside with metal profiles embedded in their inner chambers. In addition, plastic profiles do not allow easy cutting of mounting orifices and mounting recesses for the hinge elements. Therefore, the hinge members can only abut to the profiles and are mounted to metal reinforcement profiles by mounting screws. The second hinge member must in this case be securely mounted to the reinforcement profile in the inner chamber and therefore must be positioned in the limited inter-hinge space located between the frame and the sash. This imposes significant design restrictions.

European patent publication EP3121355 discloses a hinge arrangement for doors or windows having a first hinge member adapted to be mounted to a frame profile, a second hinge member adapted to be mounted to a sash profile, and an L-shaped bracket connecting the hinge members along an axis of rotation. The arrangement is provided with adjusting means allowing for vertical and horizontal adjusting as well as an adjusting of the depth. Vertical adjusting is made with an adjusting screw on which the hinge roller rests. The horizontal adjusting is made by loosening the clamping bolts and rotating the eccentric element which results in the displacement of the bracket in relation to the other hinge member. The depth adjusting can be performed in an analogous manner.

Other solutions to regulatory mechanisms are also known from EP2617921 , GB2317642 and ES2379208.

It has been an object of the present invention to provide a hinge arrangement ensuring easy installation of door or window wings having frames made of profiled multi-chamber plastic elements in frames of similar construction and easy adjusting of the sash position in relation to the frame after its installation. Another object of the invention was to provide a hinge arrangement ensuring easy mounting to profiles provided with longitudinal mounting grooves.

Summary of the invention

The invention provides a hinge arrangement, of the kind mentioned in the outset, characterized in that, the second hinge member further comprises a hinge bracket pivotally connected to the first hinge member, and an intermediary adapter member having a first wall attached to said mounting bracket and a second wall substantially perpendicular to said first wall and screwed to said hinge bracket, wherein said first wall of said intermediary adapter member has at least two longitudinal mounting orifices for mounting bolts, which orifices are oriented substantially perpendicularly to the hinge axis, and an adjusting recess in which a depth adjusting bolt is disposed and screwed substantially perpendicularly to the hinge axis in a depth adjusting projection connected to said mounting bracket, and said second wall of said intermediary adapter member has at least two longitudinal mounting orifices for mounting bolts, which orifices are oriented substantially perpendicularly to the hinge axis, and an adjusting recess in which a horizontal adjusting screw is disposed, and screwed substantially perpendicularly to the hinge axis in a horizontal adjusting projection of said hinge bracket.

As a result, the vertical adjusting system and the depth adjusting system are entirely inside the intermediary member, which makes it possible to use the hinge arrangement in such connections of the frame and sash profiles where the interhinge space is limited.

Preferably, the hinge arrangement further comprises a sliding member screwed to said mounting bracket, and said first wall of said intermediary adapter member is screwed to said sliding member, wherein said sliding member has at least two longitudinal mounting orifices for mounting bolts which orifices are oriented substantially parallelly to the hinge axis, and a retaining wall, against which rests a vertical adjusting bolt screwed substantially parallelly to the hinge axis in a vertical adjusting projection of said mounting bracket.

Thereby, the second hinge member further allows for vertical adjustment.

Preferably, said mounting bracket has a form of a longitudinal mounting lath embedded in a longitudinal mounting groove of the sash profile.

This allows better use of the limited inter-hinge space between the hinge and increases the rigidity of the mounting of the second hinge member. It is also not necessary to use additional positioning pins.

Preferably, said second hinge member of a further hinge arrangement adjacent to the hinge arrangement is further attached to said mounting bracket.

A plurality of hinge arrangements can then be attached to a suitably elongated mounting bracket, especially if it is in the form of a mounting lath, to form composite hinge arrangements. This allows to reduce the number of mounting screws, shorten the assembly time and increase the stiffness of the sash profile.

Preferably, said depth adjusting screw and/or said horizontal adjusting screw abut(s) with its/their ends against the abutment walls of the adjusting recess(es).

This facilitates the adjustment of the hinge, since in any case the rotation of the adjusting screw causes the intermediary adapter member to shift accordingly.

Preferably, the means for applying a torque to said depth adjusting bolt and/or said horizontal adjusting screw, which are accessible from the side of an access orifice on an end face of said wall of said intermediary adapter member. This allows for easy access to the adjusting screws, since the connecting edge of the intermediary adapter member between its first and second walls is usually covered by the profile chamber.

Preferably, said adjusting recess of said first wall and/or said second wall of said intermediary adapter member is embedded between said at least two longitudinal mounting orifices for said mounting bolts.

This allows for an uniform movement of the intermediary adapter element during its adjustment.

Preferably, the hinge arrangement comprises two first hinge members connected pivotally via a hinge roller to a second hinge member located therebetween.

Preferably, said multi-chamber frame profile and said multi-chamber sash profile include at least three chambers, and the internal metal reinforcement profiles are embedded in the inner chambers.

This increases the thermal insulation of such a building partition.

Detailed description of preferred embodiment

The drawing shows an exemplary hinge arrangement 1 according to the invention used to hinge the door frame profile 4 of a sash profile 5 of a non-illustrated office door. The hinge arrangement 1 comprises two first hinge members 2 pivotally connected to a second hinge member 3 located therebetween. The profiles 4 and 5 are multi-chamber box profiles made of plastic, e.g. PVC, each containing three chambers 42, 43, 44 and 52, 53 and 54. To stiffen the structure, metal reinforcement profiles 41 , 51 are embedded in the inner chambers 43 and 53 of the profiles 4 and 5. In this embodiment, the reinforcement profiles 41 , 51 have closed (tubular) sections. In other constructions, profiles 4 and 5 could, obviously, have angular sections, l-sections (double T-sections), etc. In the frame of the sash profile 5, it is possible to embed uniform or chamber sheets or elements made, for example, of tempered glass, plastic or wood, not shown in the drawing.

Each of the first hinge members 2 comprises a mounting bracket 21 , to which two positioning pins 22 are press-fitted from the outside, which are inserted into orifices drilled in the frame profile 4. The mounting bracket 21 of the first hinge member is mounted to the frame profile 4 by means of two mounting screws 23 passing from the outside through its mounting orifices 24 and screwed into the profile 4 and its tubular reinforcement profile 41. The mounting bracket 21 has a cylindrical roller mounting orifice 25 in which an end of the hinge roller 6 is disposed, which is mounted to the mounting bracket 21 by means of a locking bolt 27 screwed into the mounting bracket 21 and pressing the roller 6 perpendicularly to its axis. From the outside, the mounting bracket 21 is closed by a cap 26 that is elastically snapped into the longitudinal projections of the mounting bracket 21 .

The second hinge member 3 comprises a hinge bracket 31 having a cylindrical roller seat 35 in which the hinge roller 6 is pivotally mounted via two sliding sleeves 351 slipped on both sides into an orifice 35. Sliding washers 352 are provided between the flanges of the sliding sleeves 351 and the brackets 21 of the first hinge members 2 adjacent to the second hinge member 3. The hinge bracket 31 is connected via an intermediary adapter member 37 and a sliding member 38 to a mounting bracket 32 as will be described below. The mounting bracket 32 of the second hinge member is fixed to the sash profile 5 in the inter-hinge space 7 by means of four mounting screws 33 passing from the outside through its mounting orifices 34 and screwed into the profile 5 and its tubular reinforcement profile 51 embedded in the inner chamber 53. The sliding member 38 is externally screwed to the mounting bracket 32 by means of two mounting bolts 381 passing through its longitudinal mounting orifices 382, oriented substantially parallel to the axis of the hinge roller 6. The sliding member 38 is here slidably seated in the mounting groove 333 on the mounting bracket 32. In this way, before tightening the mounting bolts 381 , it is possible to slide the sliding member 38 relative to the mounting bracket 32 along the axis of the hinge roller 6. The mounting bracket 32 is provided with a vertical adjusting projection 322 in which a vertical adjusting bolt 321 is screwed substantially parallelly to the axis of the hinge roller 6. In the case where the axis of the hinge roller 6 is oriented vertically, the retaining wall 383 of the sliding member 38 rests by gravity on the other end of the vertical adjusting bolt 321 .

In this embodiment, the mounting bracket 32 takes the form of a longitudinal mounting lath embedded in the longitudinal mounting groove 55 of the sash profile 5. Mounting grooves 55 of this type are commonly used for mounting additional, not shown gaskets or hardware. The mounting groove 55 adjacent to the inner chamber 53 allows the vertical adjusting projection 322 and the vertical adjusting bolt 321 to be concealed therein. In addition, the mounting bracket 32 slidably seated in the mounting groove 55 has only one degree of freedom for movement along the hinge axis before screwing by screws 33.

Fixing the mounting bracket 32 in the mounting groove 55 also provides additional stiffening of the plastic sash profile 5. The mounting bracket 32 can be elongated in any way by changing the number and arrangement of the mounting screws 33 accordingly. In other embodiments of the hinge arrangements 1 according to the invention, the mounting bracket 32 can thus extend in the mounting groove 55 over a significant length of the sash profile 5 and can be used to attach more than one hinge arrangement 1 to form composite hinges.

The intermediary adapter member 37 has a substantially L-shaped transverse profile (cf. Fig. 5) having two walls 371 and 372 oriented substantially perpendicularly to each other.

The first wall 371 of the intermediary adapter member 37 is externally screwed to the threaded mounting orifices 387 of the sliding member 38 by two mounting bolts 373 passing through its longitudinal mounting orifices 375 oriented substantially perpendicularly to the axis of the hinge roller 6. Thereby, prior to tightening the mounting bolts 373, it is possible to move the intermediary adapter member 37 relative to the sliding member 38 perpendicularly to the axis of the hinge roller 6 and thus the depth adjustment. The sliding member 38 is provided with two guides 386 between which a first wall 371 is located, and a depth adjusting projection 384 into which a depth adjusting bolt 385 is screwed substantially perpendicularly to the axis of the hinge roller 6. The depth adjusting projection 384 and the depth adjusting bolt 385 are provided in the adjusting recess 377 of the first wall 371 of the intermediary adapter member 37 so that the ends of the depth adjusting bolt 385 abut the abutment walls of the adjusting recess 377. The depth adjusting bolt 385 is provided with an inner hexagon socket accessible from the access orifice 3771 of the first wall 371.

The second wall 372 of the intermediary adapter member 37 is externally screwed to the threaded mounting orifices 313 of the hinge bracket 31 by two mounting bolts 374 through its longitudinal mounting orifices 376 oriented substantially perpendicularly to the axis of the hinge roller. Thereby, prior to tightening the mounting bolts 374, it is possible to move the intermediary adapter member 37 relative to the hinge bracket 31 perpendicularly to the axis of the hinge roller 6. The hinge bracket 31 is provided with a horizontal adjusting projection 311 into which a horizontal adjusting bolt 312 is screwed substantially perpendicularly to the axis of the hinge roller 6. The horizontal adjusting projection 311 and the horizontal adjusting bolt 312 are provided in the adjusting recess 378 of the second wall 372 of the intermediary adapter member 37. The ends of the horizontal adjusting bolt 312 here abut against the abutment walls of the adjusting recess 378. The horizontal adjusting bolt 312 is also provided with an inner hexagon socket accessible from the access orifice 3781 of the second wall 372.

The second hinge member 3 of the hinge arrangement 1 according to the invention makes it possible to easily adjust the position of the sash 5 relative to the frame 4 in the three directions schematically illustrated in Fig. 2. It is clear that the conventionally designated "vertical" direction is parallel to the hinge axis, which does not have to coincide with the direction of gravitational entropic field. The vertical adjustment is made possible by a vertical adjusting assembly including a vertical adjusting bolt 321 screwed in the vertical adjusting projection 322 against which the retaining wall 383 of the sliding member 38 rests. For vertical adjustment only the mounting bolts 381 need to be loosened. The sash profile 5 will then abut its weight on the vertical adjusting bolt 321. Screwing or unscrewing the bolt 321 either pushes the sliding member 38 with the entire sash upwards, or allows it to fall down by gravity.

The horizontal adjustment is made possible by a horizontal adjusting assembly including a horizontal adjusting bolt 312 screwed in the horizontal adjusting projection 311 , which abuts against the abutment walls of adjusting recess 378 of the second wall 372 of the intermediary adapter member 37. The displacement of the horizontal adjusting bolt 312 relative to the horizontal adjusting projection 311 thus allows the hinge arrangement 1 of the hinge to be easily adjusted horizontally after loosening the mounting bolts 374.

The depth adjustment is made possible by a depth adjusting assembly which includes a depth adjusting bolt 385 screwed in the depth adjusting projection 384 and which abuts against the abutment walls of the adjusting recess 377 of the first wall 371 of the intermediary adapter member 37. The movement of the depth adjusting bolt 385 with respect to the depth adjusting projection 384 thus allows, after loosening the mounting bolts 373, an easy adjustment of the position of the sash profile 5 with respect to the frame profile 4 in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the sash profile 5.

The figures are not necessarily to scale and some features may be exaggerated or minimized. The above embodiments of the present invention are also merely exemplary. These and other factors however should not be considered as limiting the spirit of the invention, the intended scope of protection of which is indicated in appended claims.
