Abstract:
Provided are: a holding sealing material which can be effectively inhibited from releasing inorganic fibers and which can sufficiently satisfy the areal pressure characteristics required of holding sealing materials; and a process for producing the holding sealing material.
The holding sealing material comprises inorganic fibers, and is characterized in that a binder coating film comprising a first organic binder and a first inorganic binder has been formed on the surface of the inorganic fibers and that aggregates composed of a second organic binder and a second inorganic binder are protrudent from the binder coating film to form a plurality of projections.
