Abstract:
A hollow fiber membrane module having a hollow fiber membrane filled in a case and the space between the hollow fiber membrane and the case sealed with a sealing agent, wherein: said hollow fiber membrane is obtained from a polysulfone resin; the membrane surface mean pore size is 5 nm to 500 nm; the pure water permeability coefficient at 50 kPa and 25°C is 0.05 m3/m2/hr to 5 m3/m2/hr; the sealing agent is at least one selected from polyurethane resins and epoxy resins; and the reduction in tensile strength after bringing said sealing agent in contact with 121°C saturated water vapor for 24 hours is 25% or less. Provided are a hollow fiber membrane module that has adequate durability with respect to steam sterilization and maintains stable filtration performance over long periods, and a method for producing chemicals by a continuous fermentation method utilizing same.
